Do we lose our Indian Status?

There will be no loss of Indian Status under our Modern Treaty.

Under the Treaty, will I lose my healthcare? Dental care? Childcare?

Existing programs and services (e.g. health, education, etc.) will continue. In some cases, our Nation may become more involved in running these programs to provide improvements in access and benefits.

Will we pay taxes under the Treaty?

Tax exemption will continue for Status card holders on former reserve lands under our Modern Treaty, while Section 87 of the Indian Act remains active. For property tax, our Nation will decide how it will apply and whether it will apply to the Nation Citizens.
